Getting my *random* on!

That’s right, folks, it’s time for Random Tuesday Thoughts! I know, I know, try to contain your excitement, I’m about to let my random fly!

Look at the shiny new button! I love it! Just as random and fugly as the last one, but with a modern twist! Now click on it to go link up with your own random!

***********************************************************************

Have you ever had a friend that you really want to be happy for, but they’re being such a moron they’re making it virtually impossible to be their friend, let alone be happy for them? Yeah. I hate that.

***********************************************************************

I need to give Toby a bath. Because we are going to see a new client today. Yes, we. This woman called and asked if I could come over with my dog to introduce them to clicker training! Kind of a random request, but hey, I’m game! Now I just hope to god that Toby performs well and isn’t totally distracted by the kid. I don’t actually practice with my dog all that much…he’s a pet, he’s well-trained enough for me, he is not an intelligent dog who needs loads of mental exercise, and I train other people’s dogs all.the.time! Sometimes Usually I just want to have some random fun with him, instead of working!

***********************************************************************

I can’t stop thinking about babies.

***********************************************************************

I finally got hooked back up on Twitter! I have tried before, but I have a hard time keeping up with it. Maybe if I got some followers…*hint hint*! ;-)

***********************************************************************

I have discovered a problem with gardening. Spiders. Namely, monster spiders creating GIANT webs between my two garden boxes so I am too scared to can’t walk between them!

***********************************************************************

My random amusing quote of the day yesterday:  “As a mother who breastfed all four of her children I strongly believe boob jobs should be bulk billed by medicare.. Imagine if everytime a father had a child his penis got smaller, floopier and everytime he looked in a mirror he was horrified with what was left of his manhood.”

I can’t decide if it’s funny or sad, but it’s definitely true! And either way, I choose to giggle :-D

***********************************************************************

My kitty is adorable. So is my puppy. And now I get virtually non-stop cuddles! Life is good.

***********************************************************************

I love that on the Colbert Report last week, the vice president of the United States carried around a box of free hot dogs and distributed them to the troops who made up the audience. How cool is that? That he’d be willing to put him self in such a “lowly” position, and play it up and have fun with it, is just awesome.

***********************************************************************

I think I shall cut off the random there, and go bathe my puppy. I’m sure as soon as I hit “publish” I’ll remember all the random things that have been floating in my head all week, but that’s OK!

(This was my first post participating in the fun meme Word Up, Yo! The word of the week is “random,” and I just couldn’t ignore that!)

Random’s all I’ve got

I know I’ve been a horribly slacking blogger recently. I’m sorry. Hopefully I can get it together and actually write a full post sometime! Maybe. Sometime. Possibly.

But for now, I’ll get my random on!

The hubby and I just had an amazing weekend away! He took me to this place for our anniversary. It was gorgeous. And had a giant bathtub. I love bathtubs. But our house only has one which only holds 7″ of water max and is gross in places that cannot be reached for cleaning. I took 3 baths in 3 days. Heaven :-D The best part? He planned it all! I didn’t have to think about a thing! And he knows me so well, the place was perfect.

***********************************************************************

On the way home today the hubby and I made a pact. I’ve been trying to eat healthier. It’s hard, because it’s such a vague concept. But I know, from past experience, when I stop eating crap, I stop wanting crap. So for the rest of the month of September, the hubby and I have given up fast food. No more. No excuses. Get it out of our systems. Hopefully, come October, it won’t sound so appealing. And then, hopefully, the convenience factor won’t be so tempting.

***********************************************************************

Parker and Toby are getting along great! Parker spent the weekend with run of the house, while Toby spent the weekend with my favorite student. Just this evening they got back together, and they’re doing so good! Settling in, curious about each other but no chasing, it’s just good. Parker’s stitting on his tree, grooming himself, while Toby lays on the ground chewing something gross that I bought for him. Not sure which gross thing. Maybe a tendon. Maybe a penis. Who knows? Earlier, while Toby was chewing, Parker was circling, watching him from all kinds of angles. It was adorable :-)

***********************************************************************

Nothing makes you feel so good about coming home like the joy of your pets. Toby was beside himself with joy when I went to pick him up! Then he settled in on my lap, gave a contented sigh, and started dozing. I love my puppy.

Parker came right downstairs and started purring up a storm and begging for attention. He did his nose-bump with me, where he presses his nose into mine, purring all the while. If you walked away, he’d follow you, mewing for attention. Such a sweetie!

***********************************************************************

We found a great book store this weekend! Unfortunately, it’s by our hotel, but hey, when we’re there we can visit! It was a store that combines used and new books, so their selection is pretty good but they also have good deals. I bought books 3-6 of another series written by Jim Butcher, the author of The Dresden Files, which I’m currently reading, and the last book of that series. Then I wanted to find the first two books. So I went to Half Price Books when we got home. And they were having a Labor day sale. 20% off everything! So…I bought 8 more books. Grand total for the last 24-ish hours? 13 books. But they’re all used! So I was saving money! *cough*

***********************************************************************

My hubby and I had a great time at the bookstore looking at kids books! Did you ever read Purple, Green and Yellow? One of my favorites! And we discovered Doggies, a counting book by Sandra Boynton. My kids will definitely have this book, since I want to read it aloud! You know, more than to my husband in the store. Pretty sure the people there thought we either had a kid or were pregnant, from how long we spent in the kid’s section. (No, we don’t and aren’t)

***********************************************************************

Toby is whining at the bottom of Parker’s tree. He really wants Parker to come play. Parker is disdaining him. Grooming himself. Toby is barely worth a look. Oh, cats :-)

***********************************************************************

Tomorrow I go see a new doc. Wednesday, I see another. I was referred to both by the best doc I’ve ever had. Ever. She’s amazing. If anyone ever needs an OBGYN in the Seattle area, I’ll hook you up :-) Anyway, I’m excited and nervous! I love my doc, so hopefully she is sending me to good people. Considering I wasn’t even expecting her to do anything rather than put me in the stirrups and send me out the door, I figure I can’t have my expectations disappointed by going!

Speaking of which, must go fill out admission paperwork. Later, all!

Random I’m Baaa-aaaaack!

*phew* So not blogging in weeks means there’s weeks worth of stuff to write about! Let’s see how much I can remember…

I’m moving Companions! I’m moving in with a natural vet who’s in the same complex. Her waiting room is almost the same dimensions as my training space, and she’s only there one-to-two days a week. So I get the other evenings. Woo-hoo! Rent goes down a little and her space is way more finished than mine. Actual fresh paint, nice flooring, and no random ghetto holes in the wall. And I don’t have to move and lose repeat clients! I’m so very excited about this!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Toby keeps cuddling me while I type. His head is currently on the keyboard, resting against my hand as I type. He alternates between that and flipping his head back to stare at me upside-down. Adora-puppy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Did you notice I changed my separaters from * to ~ ? Oh yeah, stepping out on the wild side!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So remember Parker, my boyfriend on the side? He’s gorgeous, beautiful black and grey hair, totally striking. He’s so young and full of life, he just walks with a confident joy and loves to cuddle with me. When he sees me he comes right over and begs for attention. Which is not common for him, though it is for some of the other cats in the store. (Oh, did I not mention he was a cat?) Well, I’ve been half-wanting to adopt him for awhile, but the crazy rescue who works their insists he goes home with another cat, since at one point in his life he had a brother he was close to.
Well evidently, if I can prove that he and Toby get along and will play, they’ll approve his adoption! Yay! So I took in Toby today and they met for the second time. Parker came all the way off his cat tree and they got within a few inches of each other. At once point Parker let Toby come sniff, they stayed within a foot or two the whole time, it was good. I think this is possible. (If he came home with me, they would totally play. They play in the same way. They’re both cool with/curious about each other right off the bat. They like the play the same way. They’d become friends.
Now I have to decide if I really want this cat. I love him, we’ve got a bond. But it’s another animal to be responsible for. It is a responsibility. Must think it through.
Also, must get the hubby jazzed. Hi hubby! *waves*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My friend and I made a deal. She’s read Twilight if I’d read The Dresden Files (first four books at least). I’ve been reading for awhile now. It really slowed down my reading progress, because I did not enjoy the books. I mean, I enjoyed parts of them. The open would kind of grab me. Then it would get b.o.r.i.n.g. Then near the end it’d grab my interest again. The big shit would go down. …and then it would be booooring again.

As the series has progressed it got better. Characters deepen and are introduced. Plots thicken. There’s a dog now.

And recently I read two books in the series and wasn’t bored at all. My reading progress has picked back up again! Woo-hoo! Guess it just took 7 bad books to get there :-P

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Toby and my friend’s dog had a GREAT time playing together this weekend! Her dog is an Australian Shepherd, so much, much bigger than Toby. Last time I visited Josie (her dog) bowled down Toby the instant we walked in the door. We spent the weekend keeping them apart so it didn’t devolve into fighting, as happened whenever they had 2 unsupervised minutes together. This time we managed the greeting and they had fun. Toby crawled all over her begging for play and she just took it.
I think dealing with a 13 month old riding her has mellowed her out. And visiting the dog beach weekly has mellowed out the Toby. Winning combination :-)
Yes, they are that cute.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Have you seen this? Best way to quit EVER. I’m not sure if it’s true. I am sure that it’s awesome!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am now an online math tutor. It is pretty awesome. I had my first sessions yesterday, and of my 5 sessions, 2 people rated me. They both gave me 5/5. Yay! Within 60 days I have to upgrade off of probation, which means I have to meet a bunch of criteria, including having a high rating from students. So that made me quite happy. We’ll see what the people today said :-) So far I can tutor algebra, algebra II, and calculus. I <3 algebra. Calculus is scary, but I’ve done OK so far. It is so much fun…and once I’m off probation, pays 133% of what I make at the petstore. And since I can’t see myself there more than a year at the outside, it is very nice to have :-D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

OK, I think that’s all the big stuff (plus lots of little stuff)! And if it’s not, well, then I’ve got topics for future posts. Because it’s 10 and I’m ready for dinner, so this post is done.

The end.

Random babies, gardens, and cracked.com

Keely’s asking for our A-game for Random Tuesday Thoughts. I’m bringing it, are you?

Yesterday I watched my hubby’s softball games. They did well, won both games, woo-hoo! Hubby was even the winning run in the second one. w00t. The highlight of the evening, however, was holding the cutest little 3 month old baby on the face of the planet. Sorry, no pictures, I was too busy adoring him. First time I’ve ever really enjoyed holding a baby and been happy to continue doing it. Symptom of the baby fever I had for about 9 months and is now going into remission, I guess. Usually I just stare at them and want to know why they’re not doing anything.

***********************************************************************

Come on, babies are boring, right? This is why I want to clicker train our baby. Let ’em learn early they have to learn things in life, like the boob. The hubby is against this idea. Which is why it’s good he’ll be at work most of the day. *evil grin* (Yes, I am kidding…mostly. I mean, come on, behavioral training applies to anyone! I’ll just have a better idea what I’m doing than most. …Stop throwing things at me!)

***********************************************************************

Garden is doing well! There’s even little wheat-like things at the top of some of the corn stalks now, which are chest high. I’m hoping that means corn will follow soon!

***********************************************************************

Some tomatoes have finally showed up on my plants. How, you may ask? I got busy like a bee! Gave the plants a little somethin’-somethin’. Took an electric toothbrush out and vibrated those flowers into ecstasy!

***********************************************************************

I’m going through the process to become an online tutor. I hope it goes well. Because, you know, I need a third job. :-P But no, really, this pays better than my current retail job and is far more flexible. I set my hours, can work as much or as little as I want. You can sign up for hours a week ahead of time, or just “float” and take students when scheduled tutors are full. Seems nice to me, can adjust as I change class times, a little extra money, and if I ever get fed up and leave my retail job (which for now, I love, but if the managers change…) it would be nice to have this to fall back on. Just crank up the hours there! Next (and final) step is the mock tutoring session, so wish me luck!

***********************************************************************

I love Cracked.com. They just come up with the best crazy shit. I mean, who doesn’t like hearing about the horrifying stories Disney movies were adapted from? Or how about The 10 Most Important Things They Didn’t Teach You In School (I love the chapter titles!)? Lost fans out there? Read about 6 Real Islands Way More Terrifying Than The One On ‘Lost’. Or, my absolute favorite, 6 Brainwashing Techniques They’re Using On You Right Now. Mindless chanting, Us vs. Them, gratuitious use of shame, it’s all there with explanations of how it works in our brains. And you know I love reading about brains.

***********************************************************************

I am very tired. The sleeping is not going so well for me. So sorry if the quality of the random is not up to par. Maybe it wasn’t quite my A game…y’all bring your A+ games and send me your extra credit, mmk?!

RTT: The TV Edition

I love, (LOVE!) Big Bang Theory. Holy crap. Best. Show. Ever. I screech with laughter! And I don’t often laugh out loud, especially at TV. Holy crap, do I love nerdy humor! A friend lent us the first season and we are burning through it because I can’t stop laughing. I figure it’s a good abdomen workout, right?

Here‘s one of my favorites, the first clip I ever saw.

***********************************************************************

My garden is doing awesome. The new plants aren’t even dead yet! My watermelon are thriving, things that had died almost totally are coming back, it’s awesome. Strawberries are growing, little baby peppers (big baby peppers)…the only thing is, no tomatoes. Lots and lots of tomato flowers, no tomatoes. Anyone know why that is? Especially since the strawberries and peppers right there are right nearby and producing plenty of fruits?

***********************************************************************

The best way to start your day? Toby cuddles.

***********************************************************************

The best way to continue your day? Parker cuddles. And purrs.

***********************************************************************

I’m making lasagna with no-pre-cook noodles. Which would be great. Except I didn’t portion out the sauce right. So I think the edges of some noodles might be crispy. Oops…Crap. Hope it works OK.

***********************************************************************

You know another great show? Firefly. Amazing. Amazing. Who the hell was stupid enough to cancel it after just one season??? God, the characters are so good. I can’t wait to watch the movie, which damn-well better wrap everything up. Perfectly.

***********************************************************************

Pamela from 2 Much Testosterone is no longer a virgin in such an important, life changing way. Go congratulate her, y’all. I’m jealous. I wish it was my first time again…

Random is my middle name!

I am addicted to Twilight. It’s a wonderful, wonderful addiction.

***********************************************************************

I can tell I’m tired because when I went to start this post I had a million things to say. Then I went to get the clipart. Now they are all gone.

***********************************************************************

My roomba is FRIKKIN AWESOME! It is SO SATISFYING to have clean floors! And, as a fringe benefit, the house is way more picked up, because I pick things up before letting the roomba loose. It is worth every penny and then some!

***********************************************************************

I am super excited that my favorite student’s dog is coming to stay with me for the weekend. She is a big black dog who is a total love, and my favorite student has done amazing things with her. This dog who didn’t know how to play and was too afraid to put her mouth on anything, who was dog-aggressive, is now a certified therapy dog who loves to do tricks and today played with a variety of dogs at the beach! I’m looking forward to getting some extra puppy love, from a dog who outweighs my Toby 10-1 :P

***********************************************************************

My garden is doing AWESOME!!! The tomatoes have almost grown out of their cages! I have 4 baby peppers growing, about an inch in diameter, my corn is about three times as high (and way thicker) than it was when I started, my strawberries are producing flowers like mad (hopefully now that there’s more sun I’ll get some fruit), and my tomatoes are almost outgrowing their cages! This is so satisfying! And you know the best part? I’m having so much fun with it, and the hubby is so wonderful, that we’re going to he’s going to build me another raised bed! There won’t be a lot in it this year, several varieties of vine-y things I want to try, and then next year I’ll plant all my corn, tomatoes, etc. there. Since they’re actually growing I can give them a little more breathing room (I’m used to having half of them die on me, so I plant them a bit close so I don’t end up with gaping holes). So excited! Oh, and guess who tipped me off to raised beds? That’s right. My favorite student. :-D

***********************************************************************

My coworker who works for the kitty rescue my store fosters for tried to explain to me the other day why they insist that “bonded” pairs or groups of cats go together. She said that in other rescues, they will break up sibling groups, etc, and the cats left behind cry and cry. I feel like…they get over it. Most cats stay in our store a long time. And it’s because, of the (counting in head) 13 cats in our store which can be adopted (plus 2 in foster care), 3 can go alone (and one of those 3 is 14 years old). The other 10 (plus 2 in foster care) have to go in groups, or my favorite can go to a home with another cat already there. Even the kittens. The little, tiny, resiliant, learning about the world and facing overwhelming things all the time kittens. It is crazy. They will adapt. Their “if there’s any chance they’re bonded we make them go together so we don’t possibly cause pain for them” philosophy is crazy in my opinion. They could save a lot more cats, and get them into good homes, if they’d be a little more lenient and give the cats time to adjust. True bonding? OK, maybe. Cutting more slack to someone willing to take a group? Great. But making people fill out an application, do a phone interview, submit to a home visit, and take 2-3 cats is just a bit nutso. And then people wonder why no one gets pets from rescues!

***********************************************************************

Toby is adorable and cuddly. Puppies make life worth living. :-D

Randoooh, look! Shiny!

It’s time to get your random on!

AT&T sucks balls. Jebus. Rather than come out with the HTC Desire (basically the HTC Incredible that I have and love) they came out with a far inferior version called the HTC Aria. I firmly believe that they don’t want to come out with anything that could be competitive with the iPhone, because they’re in the lap of Apple and if they offered the iPhone competition and sales dropped, Apple would become grumpy and drop the exclusivity with AT&T. And since the only way AT&T is staying afloat is being the only people with the iPhone, they can’t do that. However, sucks for me and my hubby. Either I go to a lousier phone, or he does (at least to his mind, which is valid), or we pay more. *sigh*

I hate AT&T.

But I love my Incredible!

***********************************************************************

Toby did AWESOME at agility last night! I finally figured out the reason he won’t play with any toys there – we’ve taught him not to! Well wow, that sure makes sense. *facepalm* See, he is o.b.s.e.s.s.e.d with balls (my hubby likes to say it’s only fair, since we took his away…). And he loves his toys. But they’re small and get lost easily, or they’re soft and get dirty easily. So before we let him go outside to go potty or chase birds, we make him drop his toys. Finally I realized, he learned from this that the toys are not for outside! I grabbed his one outside toy and took it with us, he tugged like mad and RAN through the mini-course for the first time ever!! Yes! Here’s to figuring it out!

***********************************************************************

It feels like all of my friends are pregnant or have had kids. Well, all my married friends. Esp. the ones from college I’m still in contact with. One of my best buds has an almost one-year-old. Another college friend has two. My cousin has 3, with #4 on the way. Another college friend is adopting. Another is due very soon. Another just announced they’re pregnant. What married friends do I have left….none I can think of…I mean, one I met post-college, but none of the older friends. It’s odd. Especially since baby fever is in the air. And I have caught it. Hard. This is not helping, people!

I’m going to visit my best bud and her kiddo soon, though. That should put some sense back in me. What with the whole me-not-liking-infants thing :-)

***********************************************************************

I love cuddles from my puppy. His favorite bed is my foot rest. Then I get lovely foot cuddles. Life is good :-D

***********************************************************************

You know what’s awesome about your birthday? Free burger from Red Robin and free ice cream from Baskin Robbins and Cold Stone!

My diet’s going great, why do you ask?

***********************************************************************

I love my Wii Fit. I love playing a game and then going…ow…I’m sore…sweet!

***********************************************************************

Jon Stewart does a mean GWB impression.

***********************************************************************

I am sleepy. And thus random.

***********************************************************************

Y’all should go support my bestest bud, Erica. She got some shitty news today. We all need extra hugs sometimes…

***********************************************************************

Jon Stewart also does a pretty damn good Obama impression. Stupid Obama giving him a reason to use it! Hypocritical dumb-dumb. Oh, I get it, evidently Obama is Frodo! He just needs to take the presidency and throw it in the fire!  Unfortunately, he’s being stalked by a twisted creature trying to take back the precious…no, no, not Gollum…yeah, Palin, that’s it. ;-)

***********************************************************************

Jon Stewart, thank you for roasting everyone. This is why I love you :-D

***********************************************************************

No, I’m certainly not watching TV while I blog! I always give you lovely readers my full attention. Or, well, the full amount that isn’t taken up by TV.

***********************************************************************

My garden is doing so well! The corn is growing and growing, I’m shocked at how thick it is already! It’s also taller, but I notice the thickness more. The tomatoes are just getting flowers. The peppers have little peppers that are growing bigger. The strawberries…well…they keep producing fruit which is all soft by the time it turns red. That’s weirding me out, not sure what’s going on there. Oh well. 3/4 is pretty good!

***********************************************************************

OK, my random is growing too random, so it’s time for me to stop. ‘night all!!
